Timothy Jarvi, M.D.

Dr. Timothy S. Jarvi, a highly experienced ophthalmologist with over 29 years in private practice, has officially joined Specialty Eye Institute. He will be serving patients at their Jackson and Kalamazoo locations. Dr. Jarvi previously practiced in the Petoskey area.

He specializes in general ophthalmology with a focus on life-enhancing cataract surgery, utilizing advanced technology implants and drop-less recovery in most cases. Dr. Jarvi is fellowship-trained in Cornea/Cornea Transplant (including DMEK, DSAEK, PKP), Dry Eye, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery. He also holds fellowship-level training in Oculoplastics, performing a wide range of procedures such as functional and cosmetic blepharoplasty, tear drain system surgery, and eyelid trauma/cancer treatment. His skills extend to Glaucoma SLT laser, drainage valve surgery, and various YAG laser procedures (capsulotomy, iridotomy, vitreolysis for floaters, and facial/skin peel).

Dr. Jarvi earned his MD from Wayne State Medical School, completing his residency at Cook County Hospital and a specialized fellowship at Kresge Eye Institute. He is an American Board of Ophthalmology certified diplomat and is previously affiliated with Munson Charlevoix Hospital and McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Jarvi is a passionate cycling enthusiast and co-owner of Touring Gear Bicycles in Harbor Springs, MI. He has maintained a lifelong interest in music and has sponsored the BlissFest Music Organization for over 30 years. His family originates from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula, both of which he continues to visit often.

Dr. Akhila Manu is a dedicated optometrist specializing in Medical Optometry. With a strong background in managing complex eye conditions, Dr. Manu is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to her patients.

She gained extensive experience through a year of ocular disease externships at facilities including the Lexington KY, VA Hospital, Indiana School of Optometry clinic, and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She then completed a rigorous one-year ocular disease residency at the Cincinnati VA Eye Clinic, further refining her expertise.

Dr. Manu’s clinical skills include Urgent Eye Care, Cataract Co-mangement, Glaucoma and Dry Eye Treatment. She is passionate about staying at the forefront of optometric advancements to ensure her patients receive the best possible care.

Dr. Manu earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Michigan before going on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University Optometry School in 2024. Following her graduation, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Cincinnati VA Eye Clinic.

She holds certifications from the NBEO (2024) and obtained her Michigan License of Optometry in 2025. Dr. Manu has also shared her knowledge and expertise as a Low Vision Lab Instructor and served as an Attending Optometrist for students during her residency. Dr. Nina Collins Glauch graduated with her Bachelor of Science at The University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, MI. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry at the Michigan College of Optometry in 2014. Dr. Collins Glauch has a strong background in ocular disease management, primary care, emergent care, and post-operative care. She practice’s full scope optometry including performing procedures such as punctal plug insertions, foreign body removals, and amniotic membrane placements. She has a personal drive and passion for education and knowledge, which prompted her to become a Fellow with the American Academy of Optometry.
