Alexander Cherry, M.D.

Alexander Cherry, M.D. – Glaucoma & Cataract Specialist

Dr. Cherry comes to Specialty Eye Institute after training to specialize in glaucoma at the University of Kentucky. He grew up in the Toledo area and was excited to return home and join SEI. The need for glaucoma specialists is continuing to expand as we get better at screening for this silent disease. With all of the new developments in glaucoma therapies, there are many more options for patients now. The use of invasive surgery has been minimized in addition to new medications and laser treatments available. Dr. Cherry is focused on developing many long-term relationships with his patients to best understand their goals and needs in treating their glaucoma.

Before coming to SEI, Dr. Cherry spent eight years at The Ohio State University earning his medical degrees. He is most definitely a die-hard Buckeyes fan. Following OSU, Dr. Cherry spent five years completing his specialty training in Ophthalmology and Glaucoma in Lexington, Kentucky.

RaShawn W. Venerable, D.O. – Cataract, Glaucoma, and Oculoplastic Specialist

RaShawn W. Venerable, D.O., specializes in cataract and plastic surgery for the eye or Oculoplastics. He knew at a young age that he wanted to be a physician after his sister was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He entered his career to find that the treatment for such diseases became a rewarding discovery for him. Dr. Venerable found that different diseases and treatment of the eyes to be very engaging and intellectually rewarding.

He attributes his expertise to his many great mentors, both physicians, and patients alike. One of the most important lessons Dr. Venerable learned from them was to treat and medically manage patients the way he would want a member of his family to be treated. This philosophy continues to be one he practices with every personal interaction today.

As a patient, you can be assured that Dr. Venerable will treat you like part of his family, from the first time you step in the room with him until you leave, with improved vision and quality of life.
