Peter Cass, O.D.Dr. Cass is a 2000 graduate of the University of Houston, College of Optometry and has a private practice in Beaumont, TX. He is therapeutic and glaucoma certified, is a diplomat of the American Board of Optometry, a member of AOA Contact lens and Cornea Section, the Contact Lens Society of America, and a contact lens clinical researcher for Alcon.
Dr. Cass serves on the board of the TOA and is chair of the TOA’s Health Information Technology Committee. As chair of that committee, he closely follows all health information technology related developments in Texas as well as the federal level. Additionally he serves on two workgroups for the Texas Health Services Authority, which is the state agency created by the governor to oversee the set up Health Information Exchanges in the state of Texas. He is also involved at the national level on the AOA’s health information exchange committee.
Dr Cass is also a consultant for Crystal Practice management and was instrumental in their successful certification for stage 1 meaningful use and is currently working to help Crystal to achieve stage 2 certification. He has qualified for, and received meaningful use incentive payments under the Medicare EHR incentive program each year since the beginning of the program.
Dr. Cass is also a managing member of Optometric Business Solutions, an optometry consulting company, for which he lectures, provides regulatory guidance, health information technology consulting, and practice management consulting to private practices.
Dr. Cass was awarded the Young OD of the year award by the TOA in 2012 and the Entrepreneur of the year award by the Beaumont Texas Chamber of Commerce.
