What can a patient expect during the event?
During the screening event Dr. Clint Simpson, a Cataract Specialist will give a brief seminar on cataracts and glaucoma. Following the seminar one of our eye doctors will discuss your current eye prescription and any issues or changes in your vision that you may have noticed like blurriness, or decreased vision at night, for example. Afterward, a series of undilated, noninvasive tests will be taken to get a better look at the eyes.
- Autorefractor - This machine will help to determine a base eye prescription by measuring how light passes through the eye.
- Slit Lamp Exam - Your eye doctor will use a microscope in conjunction with a light to get a good look of the inside and outside of your eyes.
- Visual Acuity - Your acuity, or ability to distinguish letters, will be tested at both far and reading distances, one eye at a time.
- Tonometry - This will test the intraocular pressure inside your eye.
